Stories are due this week! See deadlines section if you’re unsure about what day your story is due.
This week we will focus on writing stories and finding incentives for subscriptions and teacher freebees. Next week, those not involved in laying out the newspaper will sell subscriptions.
We’ll be talking about writing news stories and lead paragraphs. Assignment #2 is to complete the “Lead Practice Exercises” sheet. Do this on paper and turn it in for a grade.

You will be using this blog throughout the year to complete journalism assignments for our class. Be sure to read the blogging protocol sheet before you begin.
All assignments must be kept in your journalism portfolio. Log on to this website every class period to be sure you keep up with assignments.
Your first assignment for this class is to write a list of 10 story ideas for the September issue of The Stinger. Click on “Assignments” in the box on the right. Post your “comment,” your list of story ideas. Be sure to only use your first name and last initial. You can comment on other people’s ideas. In fact, I encourage you to expand on ideas listed.
