You’ve all contributed story ideas and now we have a long list from which to choose our October stories. Everyone will be writing TWO stories for this next issue. Be sure to complete the pre-writing sheet for BOTH stories and turn them in BEFORE writing the stories. Before we begin writing the stories, we need to review the requirements for writing newspaper articles. Please go to the Fall Assignments page. Assignment #6 is due today.

Week of September 15th
Well, we finally got the newspaper off to the printer. Now it’s time to reflect on what we did and how we can do better next time. The reflection sheet is due by the end of the period Monday (Tuesday for A-day students.)
This week each student in class must come up with at least 10 story ideas for the October issue. No Sprayberry sports should be included in your list as we know which sports we will cover. Consult teachers, administrators, your peers, and the internet for ideas. This is assignment #5 (see assignment page for details about how to submit your story ideas.)
We will be working on story-writing techniques this week (particularly how to incorporate source information); how to write captions and headlines will follow.
