Blogging Protocol
Your Blogging Responsibilities
You can reach the class blog by going to http://mbdial.wordpress.com and following the appropriate link for the class.
In order to post a comment to an entry, follow these steps:
- Click on the Comment link at the bottom of the appropriate blog entry.
- Type in your first name, last initial, and class period in the Name space.
- Leave the space for your email and your URL blank.
- Type in your comment in the space provided.
- Click Post.
- Check to see that your comment has posted on the blog (don’t just assume).
Whenever you have an assignment that requires you to post a comment on the class blog, the following protocol must be observed:
- Whenever you post, you must use your first name, the initial of your last name, and your class period if you want to get credit. Because this is a public blog, we may soon have comments from readers around the world. With that in mind, unless your comment has your name on it, I won’t assume it’s you.
- Although you may write informally (for instance, you may use first person point of view in your comments), take care to make your comments as grammatically correct as possible (for example, always use complete sentences and check your spelling). Your comments should be thoughtful and carefully considered, not last-minute writing off the top of your head.
- When discussing a piece of literature, quote frequently from it to support your ideas. Even if we all know the piece you are discussing, include a page number citation (remember parenthetical documentation?).
- You may reference comments made by other students in your own comment. However, be sure to clearly note whose comment you are responding to so that I (and other readers) will understand what you’re talking about.
- Comments for a grade must be posted by noon on the day that they are due. No exceptions.
- Remember that this is a classroom blog and, as such, subject to the same rules that apply to classroom discussion. Keep your language and your comments relevant and school appropriate. Inappropriate and/or irrelevant comments will be deleted.
